Bob graduated from the University of Western Ontario and then completed the requirements for the C.A. degree. He is still a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Subsequently, Bob joined the securities business as an investment advisor and spent several years with one of Canada's largest investment houses before joining MacDougall, MacDougall and MacTier on December 1, 1998. He has many years of experience in assisting individual clients to fulfill their investment objectives.
Buy Canadian! Bob believes that Canadian investors can do better investing at home, by buying Canadian bonds and shares of companies with which they are familiar. When they buy Canadian equities, Canadian investors receive favourable tax treatment on dividend income, in the form of the dividend tax credit, which makes Canadian dividend income very attractive.
Bob's advice to investors: "Determine your risk level by deciding what percentage of your investable assets should be in fixed-income securities and what percentage should be in equities. Then, you can purchase an appropriate selection of bonds and preferred shares to complement your common stock positions. As far as common stocks are concerned, concentrate on the stocks which pay good, safe dividends and which have solid growth prospects."
